Can you be more specific Please!?

Many religions in the known world refer to their “object of worship” as God. The English word god is a tittle not a name. As Christians we refer to Jehovah the God of the bible as God. The Muslims refer to Allah as god. The Hindu also refers to their objects of worship as god. Satanism in all its different forms refers to Lucifer as god. All these religions have found a home here in the United States of America; all of them have the right to worship their “god” any way they wish.

Have you ever thought about the fact that the term “in God we trust “means something completely different to the Muslim, Hindu, and the Satanist, than it means to the Christians? Have you ever asked yourself why it’s ok to pray to “god” in public as long as it’s not in Jesus name? The reason is because everyone calls their person or object of worship “god”!

We praise movie stars, television stars, and athletes, and musical performers; because they thank “god” for their success. The question is which “god” is really responsible for their Worldly fame? Most of the people in the entertainment world are drunkards, drug addicts, adulterers, whoremongers, and blasphemers of the one true God Jehovah. They live their lives , and make their money by breaking the commandments of the one true God Jehovah. And you think the “god” they are praising for their success is Jehovah?  How dumb can we be!

2 Corinthians 4:4  refers to Satan as “the god of this world”.

Ephesians 2:2  Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:

I hope you see that according to the bible those who walk after the course of this world (drunkards, adulterers, blasphemers, liars, etc.) follow the “god” of this world “Satan”; and not the God of the bible.

Don’t be fooled into thinking that the United States of America is a Monotheistic nation. We are as pagan and polytheistic as the Egyptians, the Greeks, and the Romans. Just as many “gods” were served and worshiped in the ancient civilizations, there are many “gods’ being worshiped in our civilization.

Please dear reader can you be more specific about which “god “you serve?? Make it a habit to call him by name!

let God be true, but every man a liar!

There are a lot of things being discussed and debated in the world today. Moral, religious, and scientific topics. In the midst of these debates man has been sure to insert his ideas and opinions. For example men say that humans evolved from primates over a period of millions of years. Men say that a woman has the right to choose if her unborn baby lives or dies. Man also says that homosexuality should be an acceptable life style in today’s society. Man says that all religions are the same; Muslim, Buddhist and Christian all come to the same God just in different ways. Man even says there is no God.

Romans 3:4 say, “yea, let God be true, but every man a liar;” in other words if we want to come to know the truth about the origin of man, morality, and religion we need to stop listening to the lies of man, and begin listening to the truth of God.

Where can we find Gods truth? God’s truth is found in his word, and his word is found in scripture.

2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

The phrase translated “inspiration of God” is the Greek word theopneustos which literally means “God breathed”. See the holy scriptures found in the bible are the literal words of God, written down by holy men as  the spirit of God moved upon them to write, “thus saith the Lord.”

2 Peter 1:21  For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

So if you and I really want to know the truth concerning the matters of debate and discussion; we must go to the Bible which is in fact Gods word.  Then we are to let God be true and every man a liar.

So what does God have to say concerning the origin of man?

Genesis 1:26-27  And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.  (27)  So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

What does God say about abortion?

Exodus 20:13  Thou shalt not kill.

Exodus 21:22  If men strive, and hurt a woman with child, so that her fruit depart from her, and yet no mischief follow: he shall be surely punished, according as the woman's husband will lay upon him; and he shall pay as the judges determine.

Just in case some say,” what about a woman with no husband? “Here is Gods answer for you.

Exodus 20:14  Thou shalt not commit adultery.

What does God say about homosexuality?

Leviticus 18:22  Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.

Leviticus 20:13  If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

What does God say about other religions and gods?

Exodus 20:3  Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

Exodus 34:14  For thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God:

John 14:6  Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

God is very clear concerning these matters that men debate. God has spoken and his word is final. His word is law.

Maybe you are guilty of going against what God has said, and living your life as you see fit. I have a few more verses for you.

Revelation 21:8  But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

1 John 1:7-10  the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.  (8)  If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.  (9)  If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.  (10)  If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

Romans 10:9  That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

I Am Weak But He Is Strong

Growing up in church, one of the first songs I learned to sing was Jesus loves me. As little kids we only learned one verse and the chorus. Even to this day I can remember the words to that simple but true song. “Jesus loves me this I know for the bible tells me so, little ones to him belong they are weak but he is strong.” “Yes Jesus loves me, yes Jesus loves me , yes Jesus loves me the bible tells me so.” Those few words carry a lot of meaning and truth.
Life as you know is full of trials and testing. And just like your family goes though trials and testing, so does mine. Just the other day me and my wife were talking about a particular trial we are going through. Right in the middle of the discussion my wife spoke up and said, “ we will get through this we are strong...”then she stopped said, “ well we are not strong but the Lord is !”  As soon as she said that, these words from the song Jesus loves me popped into my mind. “They are weak but he is strong.”
As adults we like to think that we are strong enough to handle life’s problems. We are healthy, intelligent, and independent; surely we can handle whatever life throws at us! However, when you look at the big picture of the world and of life we are so little, helpless, and weak. As a man it is hard for me to admit this, but I am little, and I am weak. Compared to life I’m not strong enough to handle the troubles alone. To be perfectly honest with you the events of tomorrow scare me to death! Sickness, poverty, and other problems could be waiting at the door; and I know I’m not strong enough to handle it! If you will be honest you have to admit you are little and weak as well.
The song Jesus loves me doesn’t just remind us that we are weak, but it also reminds us that Jesus is strong. In 2 Corinthians 12 Paul admits he was weak v5 then He tells of his troubles  v7 called it a thorn in the flesh, and a messenger of Satan.  (2 Corinthians 12:9)  Paul tells us what Jesus said about Paul’s problem, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.

It is through our weakness that God manifests his strength! I thank God for this truth; that in my time of weakness God reveals his strength. He reminds me that greater is He that is within me than he that is in the world. So as you ponder the troubles, trials, and tests that you are facing; remember you’re not strong enough to handle it, but Jesus is! Leave it in his hand, and let him manifest his strength through your weakness.

Jesus loves me this I know for the bible tells me so, to him I belong I am weak but he is strong.

Whats In The Bag?

A few years ago my pastor told me a story about picking up a man beside the road. When the man got in to the car my pastor noticed a brown paper bag in the mans hand. Out of curiosity my pastor asked the man, "Whats in the bag?" The man quickly answered, "IT'S NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS!" This infuriated my pastor so he said... "Out of the kindness of my heart I picked you up off the street, and I'm taking you where you need to go. Tell me whats in the bag!" Again the man answered, "IT'S NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS!" By this time my pastor is really HOT, so he says to the man, "EITHER YOU TELL ME WHATS IN THE BAG OR GET OUT OF MY CAR!" Without blinking an eye the man quickly jumped out of the car. As my pastor is driving away he noticed that the man had jumped out of the car in such a hurry that he forgot the brown paper bag.  My pastor pulled the car over, and opened that brown paper bag... Do you know what was in that brown paper bag? IT'S NON OF YOUR BUSINESS!

My pastor told this as a joke, I don't believe a word of it is true. But I want to ask you a serious question. WHATS IN THE BAG? (Job 14:17)  says "My transgression is sealed up in a bag, and thou sewest up mine iniquity."  God is an all seeing God. (Job 34:21)  For his eyes are upon the ways of man, and he seeth all his goings. Every thing you and I do in the open, or in secret God sees. Every transgression, iniquity, and sin you commit is sealed up in a bag. By now your answering my question. IT'S NON OF YOUR BUSINESS! No its not any of my business, but isn't it a scary thought to you, that God has preserved your sins in a sealed up bag? Every lie, every lustful thought, every idol word, every thing done in the secrecy of night, or behind close doors; God has seen and sealed it up in a bag.

Why has God sealed up our sins in a bag? Well one day every man will appear before the judgment seat of God. (Revelation 20:12)  And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. Just like a policeman collects evidence to be presented to a judge in a criminal case; God has collected all the evidences against you that proves you to be a sinner, deserving of hell!  All  of us have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; (Romans 3:23). The sentence for all sin, even what you might call a small sin is death (Romans 6:23)! When you stand before God you wont be able to talk your way out of  a death sentence, because every sin you have committed has been carefully placed in the evidence bag and  written in a book. Hell will be inescapable, for the evidence is clear you are a sinner!

Is there any way to be sure your bag of sins and the record of your sins doesn't show up in court? YES! If you don't want your sins to show up on Judgement day, today you must do following...

1. Plead guilty. Come clean with your self and God. Admit to him today that you have sinned and come short of his standards.

2. Find a bondsman. There is only one who can pay the price for your sins and that is Jesus. Truth is he has already paid the price for your sins through his death on the cross. Through Christ death justice was served and the wrath of God appeased.

Romans 5:8-9 says it this way
     (8)  But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
     (9)  Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
Out of Gods grace he sent his son Jesus to die on the cross for the sins of the world. And if you and I will trust Christ as our Lord and Savior, our sin debt will be paid in full.  Here is the great thing about it, when a person trusts in Christ their sin debt isn't only paid, but his sin record is removed.

The record book will be erased. (Isaiah 44:22)  I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, thy transgressions, and, as a   cloud, thy sins: return unto me; for I have redeemed thee.

Your bag of sin will be cast into the sea. (Micah 7:19)  He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.

3. Get a good lawyer. Jesus isn't just the only bondsman but he is the only lawyer who can defend your case (1 Timothy 2:5)  For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus. Jesus not only paid the price for your sins but he will also stand before God in Your place. If  Christ is your Lawyer He pleads your case to God for you. If Jesus is your lawyer when your name is called He will stand and say; this person has been Redeemed, Justified, Sanctified, and declared Righteous though my death burial and Resurrection. God will say this person is free to enter in to the kingdom of heaven.

Back to that bag of sins of yours...... Will you let it show up in court as evidence, or will you let Jesus handle the case and cast it into the sea of forgetfulness?

Where Does Faith Grow?

In Matthew 17:20 and in Luke 17:6 Jesus compares faith to a grain of mustard seed. He used the analogy to teach his disciples how much faith it would take to do what seems impossible. This past week I really began to realize faith is like a seed, it may start out small but when properly planted in the right soul it will grow. I began to think of some men in the bible who lived by faith and I began to think of where their faith grew the most.

I first thought of  Abraham, Abraham is know as the father of our faith. Abraham's faith grew on a rock pile (Gen 22). In obedience to God Abraham laid his promise son Isaac on a alter made of stone as a sacrifice to God. In Geneses 21:12 God had told Abraham that Isaac would be his hare then in chapter 22 he tells Abraham to sacrifice Isaac on a alter of stone. Hebrews 11:17-19 tells us that Abraham offers Isaac by faith believing that God would raise Isaac up by faith. By this we see that Abraham had great faith already but on this rock pile where his son laid as a sacrifice Abraham's faith grew even more. For the Holy and righteous God Abraham served proved to also be a merciful God.

Secondly I thought of Joseph, the son of Jacob who saved his people form a seven year famine. His faith grew in captivity (Gen 37-40). Joseph was cast in to a pit, then sold to the Ishmaelites by his own brothers. The Ishmaelites carried him down to Egypt and  sold him to a man named Potiphar. Joseph later became Potiphars head servant, but because of Potiphars lying, and lustful wife; Joseph was accused of making an advance on Potiphars wife and put in prison. Joseph spent over two years in prison. How did Joseph get out of prison? Joseph was released from prison because he had a faith in God and a gift from God. I believe that Joseph had faith in God before his captivity, but I also believe that it was his captivity that grew his faith in God. I can say this because of what Joseph said to his brothers in Genesis 50 when they asked him for forgiveness (v20 as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.) Joseph admits that God was working in his life all those years. Can I tell you if God is working your faith is growing!

Thirdly I thought of Moses, Moses was a Hebrew child raised in the home of Pharaoh. Yet he was nursed by his Hebrew mothers and I believe she tough him of  God (Exodus 2:1-10). Then Moses grew to be a man and one day he saw a Egyptian beating a Hebrew slave. Moses was so enraged that that he slew the Egyptian and hid him in the sand (Ex 2:11). (V15 Now when Pharaoh heard this thing, he sought to slay Moses. But Moses fled from the face of Pharaoh, and dwelt in the land of Midian.) In Midian Moses married and began tending to his father-in-laws sheep. Ch3 tells us that he led the flock to the backside of a the desert, and it was in this desert that Moses faith grew. God appeared to Moses in this desert in the form of a burning bush. in this desert God reviled his power to Moses, and he reviled his name to Moses. then God commissions Moses to go back to the land of Egypt and tell pharaoh to let the people of God go. V12 God makes Moses a promise. he says " Certainly I will be with thee; and this shall be a token unto thee, that I have sent thee".  If Moses didn't go though that dry desert his faith would have never grown, and he would have never went back to Egypt demanding the freedom of his people in the name of  the Lord.

Through these men we see that faith grows in the dry rock souls of  life not the fields of ease but in the pits of heartbreak and hard times. Our struggles grows our faith. If you wont a stronger faith in the God of your salvation you must go though hard times of life. Hard times draw you closer to God, and in result grows your faith in God. For me I to have found that it is life's rock piles, chains, and deserts that cause me to pray and seek God more. Often I have told my church if you wont a strong faith expect hard time.

If given the opportunity I do not believe that these three men would have trade their rock pile, chains, or desert for anything because it was these experience that grew their faith in a living God. Though these experiences where hard to go through these experiences changed these men's lives for the better.

Do you call yourself a Christian???

(Acts 11:26)  ... And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.

Do you call yourself a Christian? We live in a country where a lot of people call themselves Christians but they don't live up to the meaning of the name. First of all being a proud American or a good old boy does not make you a Christian. neither does going to church. Believe it or not being a born again believer doesn't necessarily mean you are a Christian!

So what makes a person a REAL CHRISTIAN? Lets take a moment to look at the meaning of the word to find the answer to this question.

The word christian is only found three times in the bible, (Acts_11:26, Acts_26:28, 1 Peter_4:16) the English word Christian, it the Greek word Χριστιανός literal translated Christianos. The word Christian  means a devoted follower of Christ. Another word for a true Christian would be disciple, because a disciple is a devoted follower of Christ who accepts the instructions of Christ!

John 8:31  Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;

Now I hope you see that a true Christian or Disciple of Christ is one who lives their life in accordance to the words of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. What I am trying to say is this, a Christian is a person who walks, talks, and acts as Christ commands his children to walk, talk, and act. When you and I live our lives like Jesus has told us to live in his word, then we have the right to call ourselves Christians. See God didn't save us just so we could go to heaven, like some would like you to think. But God saves sinners from sin so that he might conform them to the image of his son Jesus. (Romans 8:29) In other words God saves sinners so that he might make them like Christ. How do we become like Christ you might ask? By living lives worthy of being called CHRISTIAN!

Most people who call themselves Christian still live the way they want to live, instead of how Gods word tells them they should live. God says don't do this, yet they stilll do it. God says do this ,yet they still don't. Basically I'm saying that if  any part of your life is lived contrary to Gods word, you have NO RIGHT TO CALL YOUR SELF A CHRISTIAN!

I think most people who call themselves Christians should give themselves new names. Here are some to think about trying; " self righteous Pharisee", "religious hypocrite", " carnal minded church goer". If you don't live your life continuing in the words of Christ, don't I repeat, don't call yourself a Christian. Call your self by one of the names above, because that's a better fit. Better yet change the way you are living. Start living by the words of  the  HOLY BIBLE so you can call your self a Christian with out being ashamed.
Hope I got you thinking about what it really means to be called a Christian.

He increaseth the nations and destroyeth them.

(Job 12:23)  He increaseth the nations, and destroyeth them: he enlargeth the nations, and straiteneth them again.

last Wednesday night I was preaching from Job 12 on what Job knows. I had 6 points and I only preached 5 of them. The last point was form the verse above (Job 12:23). in this verse job states that he understands that God build and destroys nations.

just for example lets look at the nation of Israel.

 Genesis 12:1-2
(1)  Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee:
(2)  And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:

God to promised Abraham he would make his family a mighty nation and God did! Down in the land of Egypt God grew them into a mighty people. (ref Genesis 46:3, Exodus 1:7)

Then God lead them out of Egypt by the leadership of Moses, and he led them into Canaan by the leadership of Joshua. Once the land of Canaan was subdued, Joshua divided up the Land of Canaan among the tribes of Israel.

ref; Joshua 13

After the death of Joshua,  "the LORD raised them up judges, then the LORD was with the judge, and delivered them out of the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge: ..." (ref; Judges 2:18)

The last of these judges was a prophet named Samuel . (1 Samuel 7:15)  And Samuel judged Israel all the days of his life.

(1 Samuel 8:4-6)
Then all the elders of Israel gathered themselves together, and came to Samuel unto Ramah, And said unto him, Behold, thou art old, and thy sons walk not in thy ways: now make us a king to judge us like all the nations. But the thing displeased Samuel, when they said, Give us a king to judge us. And Samuel prayed unto the LORD.

(1 Samuel 8:22)
And the LORD said to Samuel, Hearken unto their voice, and make them a king. And Samuel said unto the men of Israel, Go ye every man unto his city

The first king to reign over Israel was king Saul. Next in line was King David, then King Solomon. Around the year 931 BC the kingdom of Israel was divided into two kingdoms; the Kingdom of Israel in the North, and the Kingdom of Judah in the South.

Destruction of Jerusalem, 9th Av, 586 BC, Babylonian Captivity

As you can see by the list above, majority of the Kings who reigned over these two kingdoms were BAD KINGS, who led the people away from God into Idolatry. Now remember that God is the one who raised up the nation of Israel, the one who increased the nation, and enlarged the nation. Still these kings turned their hearts from the one true God to idols. Because of this God took the land from the people of Israel and Judah. God also destroyed the cities of the nation and lead the people into captivity in the land of Babylon. (ref; 2 kings 24)

While in captivity the people turned back to God, and seventy years later the nation was released from their captivity, so that they might return unto the land of Canaan. The city of Jerusalem, and the temple was rebuilt under the leadership of Nehemiah and Ezra.

I gave you this brief history of the kingdom of Israel to make this point, it is GOD who increaseth the nations, and destroyeth them: he enlargeth the nations, and straiteneth them again.

The United States of America has been a blessed nation and a great nation down through the years. Our blessings as a nation have come from God, and our greatness has come from God. God has blessed us because our forefathers founded this nation on the same laws and principals God set forth for the founding of the nation of Israel. Although the last 200 plus years God has increased our nation, and enlarged our nation. Because we as a nation feared the LORD God ,Jehovah and we made His Word our law.

(Psalms 33:12)
Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.

But just like the people of Israel we have turned from God and turned to the lust of our flesh, and the Idols of this world. America is no longer a Christian nation. We are a heathen nation and we have been for a long time now. Our leaders no longer have a fear of God or a respect for his word. Our so called christian homes are so full of the world, and the pleasures of this life; there is no room for God, no room for family devotions, or family alter. All we have time to do any more as family is watch the harlots and Whore-monger's of Hollywood. But no time for God. Our schools can teach the beliefs of idol religions, but the children are forbidden to pray in Jesus Name.

Have you ever asked yourself why our economy is in a wreck? Or why our nation is turning towards homosexuality? Why are we being attacked again and again on our own soil? Or why do we live in fear of some one walking into our child's school and shooting them down like animals?

(Psalms 9:17) has the answer to these questions.
The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.

We as a nation have forgotten God. We have turned our back on God, and if we as a nation keep going in this direction;  America will no longer be know as the land of the free and the home of the brave.  It will be known as HELL ON EARTH! The same God who has made us great because we feared him, will be the same God who destroys us because we forgot him

(Job 12:23)  He increaseth the nations, and destroyeth them: he enlargeth the nations, and straiteneth them again.
